Elon Musk said Wednesday he regrets some of his recent social media posts about President Donald Trump, admitting they “went too far.” The apology follows a public falling-out last week, when Musk criticized Trump’s tax and spending bill as a “disgusting abomination” and even suggested support for impeachment—comments he has since deleted.
The spat prompted Trump to declare their relationship “over,” warning of “serious consequences” if Musk backed Democrats. Despite that, Trump said he’s open to a call from Musk and has no plans to end White House use of Musk’s Starlink internet service.
Musk, who spent nearly $300 million supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign and briefly led a federal efficiency initiative under Trump, stepped down from that role after clashing over policy. Following Musk’s regretful post, Tesla shares rose 2.7% in Frankfurt.
Signs of reconciliation have emerged, with Musk liking Trump’s recent comments wishing him well.
