NASCAR Goes International: First Cup Series Race in Mexico Since 1958

NASCAR returns to the global stage this weekend with its first international Cup Series race in 25 years — and the first points-paying race outside the U.S. since 1958. The event will be held at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, a high-altitude, fan-favorite road course known for its long straightaway and stadium-style “Foro” section.

Though the Cup Series hasn’t raced abroad in decades, NASCAR’s Xfinity Series competed at this track from 2005–2008. The 2025 Mexico City race is the second road course of the season and part of NASCAR’s new in-season challenge, which seeds drivers based on their best result across three races (Michigan, Mexico, Pocono).

The 100-lap event airs Sunday, June 15, at 3 p.m. ET, exclusively on Prime Video.

Historic International NASCAR Races:

  • 1952 & 1958 – Canada
  • 1988 – Australia
  • 1996–1998 – Japan

The Mexico race marks a bold step forward in NASCAR’s global ambitions, bringing elite stock car racing back to international fans.
