On June 14—Flag Day, the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, and President Trump’s birthday—over 1,800 "No Kings Day" protests are planned across the U.S. to reclaim patriotism and the American flag from what organizers see as Trump’s authoritarian overreach. Led by groups like Indivisible, MoveOn, and veterans’ organizations, the protests aim to highlight democratic values, counter Trump's military parade, and denounce policies they say threaten American democracy. Veterans will lead many marches, pushing back against the narrative that patriotism belongs solely to the right. Organizers deliberately avoided Washington, D.C., to keep the focus on democracy, not Trump.
